The Spread of MRSA is no Myth. In fact, MRSA, once mostly confined to health care institutions, has spread to student populations in public schools to such an extent that school officials, in some areas, have resorted to the temporary closure of school buildings for the purpose of dis infection.
As contaigons go, it doesn't have a very catchy name, but methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a contaigious bacterium – resistant to most antibiotics, easily transmitted by casual contact, and responsible for as much as 20 percent of all infections picked up in hospitals and other health care facilities.
The
"ease of transmission" puts anybody who spends a
significant amount of time in close contact with others ... such as
students ... in a position of real risk.
The problem of risk
is heightened by the fact that MRSA is Deadly. This fact has been
known for years, but a newly released CDC study indicates that this
bacterium may be twice as deadly as previously thought.
From
July 2004 through the end of 2005, researchers tracked statistics
collected from nine U.S. health care centers that participated in a
special bacterial surveillance program.
Extrapolating the data, researchers estimated that more than 94,000 patients were infected with invasive MRSA during the study period. Over 18,500 of the infected persons died (19.6% mortality rate). 85 percent of the infections were associated with health care treatment (People got this infection in the hospital).
Some hospitals now test incoming patients for MSRA, isolating infected patients to protect the safety of un-infected patients. This is somewhat controversial because sequestered patients may not receive the same level of care as uninfected patients. While that issue is open to debate, the New York Times reports that a hospital system in Chicago has cut the rate of MSRA infections by 60 percent since screening began in 2005.
The trend of infectious origin appears to have shifted, at least in part due to hospital diligence, with an increasing number of infections manifesting in the general population, particularly within high school student populations. The increased number of infections is probably due to an increased level of drug resistance within this strain of Staph.
At
this moment, conventional medical treatments for MRSA are not working
well. Some of the afflicted are finding that even the most
sophisticated anti-biotics, intravenously administered, are simply
insufficient for the task. This is due, in part, to the fact that
The
FDA places its' faith in conventional anti biotics, anti-virals
and vaccinations (produced by companies that pay "big fees to
the FDA"), even though these options have repeatedly
proven ineffective in combating fast mutating aggressive pathogens.
Alternative physicians, such as Allan Spreen, M.D are advocating the use of colloidal silver, grapefruit seed extract, and even high doses of vitamin C, which do appear to be working.
On OCT 31, 2007, I spoke with JW of Edmond Oklahoma. In the course of our conversation, JW relayed the following information: " I was infected with MRSA, had several courses of anti-biotics, and it just kept coming back, worse each time. I bought a Colloidal Silver Generator from you (Silver Bullet Enterprises) and since I began taking the Colloidal Silver, there has been no repeat of the problem. Our records indicate that he purchased the generator several months ago. I have not verified the information, or looked at his medical records, but I do choose to believe his report, because, in part, it is compatible with other anecdotal reports I encounter on a regular basis.
We know that Colloidal Silver kills MRSA, in test tubes, but so does Clorox. Of course, you can't safely ingest Clorox, but ... according to the US EPA ... colloidal silver is relatively benign to the human anatomy and ingestion poses a low level of risk.
Because we believe, along with others, that colloidal silver may help maintain general good health even for a person exposed to certain deadly bacteria and/or viruses ... possibly including MRSA ... We are "at odds" with the FDA.
